Quickdraw: Beach House, Rose Droll, The Good, The Bad & The Queen, Beirut, J Mascis

Enjoy.

Beach House – Alien

Beach House just released a 7″ with a couple of 7 outtakes on it.  Personally, I think Alien should have actually been on the album – it’s a wonderful wall of sound.

Rose Droll – Boy Bruise

Here’s a weird, oddly infectious one from Rose Droll, who will be releasing her debut album, Your Dog, on November 16.  I’m intrigued.

The Good, The Bad & The Queen – Merrie Land

Well look who’s back!  For a long while now Damon Albarn has talked about resurrecting The Good, The Bad & The Queen, but I wasn’t sure it would actually happen.  Merrie Land is the name of their sophomore effort, and it’ll be out on November 16.  The video for the title track kind of weirds me out.

Beirut – Gallipoli

Oh Beirut, thank you for always making the most ear-pleasing tunes.  The new album is titled Gallipoli and it will be released on February 1.

J Mascis – Web So Dense

J Mascis’ new album, Elastic Days, is due out November 9.  I think this latest single is my favorite from it so far.  Grab a blanket before you hit play.

Good call on J Mascis – my favorite off the new album, too. Short listed for consideration for my Best of 2018.

I hear the weird part of the Rose Droll track, but I am missing the infectious part, oddly or otherwise.

I have always wanted to like Beirut, but something does not click for me.
