Quickdraw: Ducks Ltd., Bodega, Omni, Footballhead, Sleater-Kinney

Enjoy.

Ducks Ltd. – Train Full Of Gasoline

I don’t have an official list of albums that I’m looking forward to in Q1 of 2024, but if I did, Ducks Ltd’s Harm’s Way (due out February 9) would for sure be on it. Check out the latest infectious pop number from the LP right here.

Bodega – Tarkovski

Many years ago I went with a friend to see Tarkovski’s Stalker and somewhere around the midpoint of the film he dozed off and dropped his beer, which then clanged around and rolled towards the screen, waking up (and/or annoying) everyone else in the theater along the way. Good times. Anyhow, that popped into my head due to the mention of the Zone (a key element of Stalker) in the chorus of this art pop tune. Bodega, by the way, have a new album on the way – Our Brand Could Be Yr Life is due out April 12.

Omni – Plastic Pyramid

Omni announced a new album, Souvenir (due February 16), way back in November and then kind of went under the radar. Presumably, this was because of the holidays, but either way, the second single is finally here and it’s weird and wonderful. Turn it up.

Footballhead – Like A Blister

Here’s a 90s-leaning alt-rock gem from Footballhead, whose upcoming album, Overthinking Everything, will be released on March 1. On a related note, I’m still big on one of their previous singles.

Sleater-Kinney – Untidy Creature

The new Sleater-Kinney album is almost here – Little Rope will be out on January 19. I really dug the first single, didn’t care much for the second one, and now the third track is here and working for me. What does that mean for the LP? I have no idea, but I’m eager to check it out. Side note, for those in Austin, the band is playing ACL Live on March 6.
