Quickdraw: Noun, We Were Promised Jetpacks, Big Red Machine, Zelma Stone, LUMP, Foxing

Enjoy.

Noun – In The Shade

Marissa Paternoster of Screaming Females also has a solo project called Noun, and later this summer she’ll be putting out an EP, In The Shade, under that moniker. I can’t wait, but then again that’s always the case with anything she does.

We Were Promised Jetpacks – Fat Chance

We Were Promised Jetpacks recently dropped a single, and now they’ve followed it up with another track and word on a new album – Enjoy The View is due out September 10. They seem to have really expanded their sound.

Big Red Machine – Latter Days (Featuring Anaïs Mitchell) / The Ghost Of Cincinnati

Big Red Machine (The National’s Aaron Dessner + Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon) have announced a sophomore effort titled How Long Do You Think It’s Gonna Last?, and it’s due out August 27. I have to say, the featured artists on this thing makes for a wild list! By the way, the first two singles are oh-so-pretty.

Latter Days (feat. Anaïs Mitchell)
Reese
Phoenix (feat. Fleet Foxes and Anaïs Mitchell)
Birch (feat. Taylor Swift)
Renegade (feat. Taylor Swift)
The Ghost of Cincinnati
Hoping Then
Mimi (feat. Ilsey)
Easy to Sabotage (feat. Naeem)
Hutch (feat. Sharon Van Etten, Lisa Hannigan, and Shara Nova [My Brightest Diamond])
8:22am (feat. La Force)
Magnolia
June’s a River (feat. Ben Howard and This Is The Kit)
Brycie
New Auburn (feat. Anaïs Mitchell)

Zelma Stone – Gift Horse

There are some really solid Angel Olsen vibes from Zelma Stone here, and I’m digging it. Her new album, The Best, will be out August 20.

LUMP – We Cannot Resist

Laura Marling and Mike Lindsay are LUMP, and their sophomore LP, Animal, is set to be released on July 30. The production on this track is really fantastic, so make sure you toss on some headphones before hitting play!

Foxing – If I Believed In Love

Boy does this song rocket into the stratosphere at the 1:27 mark. Admittedly, I haven’t loved every one of the singles off of Foxing’s Draw Down The Moon – in fact, I’ve only been into two of the four released so far but I have appreciated how adventurous they’ve all sounded, so I remain eager to check out the album when it gets released on August 6.

As if naming his side project after the greatest baseball team in the past 60 years is not enough, it is nice to see Aaron Dessner name checking a bunch of spots in his hometown of Cincinnati.
