Phoebe Bridgers – Kyoto (Copycat Killer Version)
I initially thought that this new version of Kyoto was a bit too dramatic, but it’s grown on me a lot. Phoebe Bridgers will release the Copycat Killer EP (it’s comprised of new recordings of four songs from Punisher) on November 20.
Yung – Above Water
Yung have finally announced a follow-up to 2015’s excellent A Youthful Dream – it’s called Ongoing Dispute and it’ll be out on January 22. This Yo La Tengo-inspired single is great.
Kiwi Jr. – Cooler Returns
Somehow someway, this new one from Kiwi Jr. is even more infectious than the super hooky number they put out a few weeks ago. The band will release Cooler Returns on January 22.
I am Ok with the reinterpretation of “Kyoto” but I detest the video which looks like a stock Windows 95 screensaver. I will likely close my Best of 2020 compilation with Phoebe’s “I Know This Is the End”, not this or the original.
