Quickdraw: Lewsberg, Hazel English, Damien Jurado, Wire, Blushh
From the depths of my inbox. Enjoy.
Lewsberg – At Lunch
There’s something about this new one from Lewsberg that I find really comforting. Also, it’s just a cool track. The band will release In This House on March 27.
Hazel English – Combat
This is a very pretty, wonderful track from Hazel English. Her new album, Wake Up!, is due out on April 24.
Damien Jurado – Birds Tricked Into The Trees
I should have shared news of a new Damien Jurado album weeks ago. It’s almost like I’ve been distracted by a wedding and then a global pandemic! Anyhow, the LP is called What’s New, Tomboy?, and it’s going to be released on May 1. I will never tire of this man’s voice.
Wire – Small Black Reptile
Here’s a new, rock-ier version of this track that first appeared on Wire’s 1990 album Manscape – it’s off the band’s impending Record Store Day compilation that features “stray” tunes and reworked older numbers.
Blushh – Too Dark
90s-tinged indie rock always gets me, and that’s exactly what this is. On another note, I can totally imagine it playing over a coming of age moment for some teen in a comedy. Blushh’s R.I.P. Apathy is due out April 17.
