Quickdraw: Rosalia, Deeper, Tennis, Stephen Malkmus, Diet Cig
Rosalia – Juro Que
Everything is coming up Rosalia these days. She just won a Grammy (for Best Latin Rock, Urban or Alternative Album), and she’s got this fantastic new single. Can’t wait for her follow-up to El Mal Querer.
Deeper – This Heat
This is a very catchy, energetic and angular slice of post-punk from Deeper. The band will release their sophomore LP, Auto-Pain, on March 27. Also, they’re set to play SXSW.
Tennis – How To Forgive
Tennis is operating in all-out pop mode on this new one, and I think it’s a sound that really works for them. Swimmer is due out on February 14, and the band is set to play Stubb’s on February 29.
Stephen Malkmus – Xian Man
Traditional Techniques (due out March 6) is the name of the upcoming album from Stephen Malkmus. I was only somewhat into Groove Denied, the electronic-tinged effort that he put out last year, but that’s not stopping me from looking forward to the new LP. I like him too much not to. Also, the rootsy vibe of this first single is pretty great.
Diet Cig – Night Terrors
Diet Cig sound all grown up on this track. I don’t mind. The press release that came with this song didn’t mention an album, but I’m guessing that one will be announced in the near future.
