Quickdraw: Fontaines DC, Pip Blom, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, Courtney Barnett, Black Belt Eagle Scout

Enjoy.

Fontaines DC – Boys In The Better Land

One of the more memorable sets I saw during SXSW was Fontaines DC (at the Mohawk).  Frontman Grian Chatten is somehow both squirrely and commanding on stage.  Anyhow, their new tune is cool.  The band’s debut album, Dogrel, is out tomorrow.

Pip Blom – Ruby

The singles released so far from Pip Blom’s debut album, Boat, have been great, and I’ve quickly become a big fan of the indie rock act.  I expect to spend a lot of time with the LP when it’s released on May 31.

Psychedelic Porn Crumpets – Bill’s Mandolin

While ducking into Radio Milk to see White Denim play a SXSW set, I just happened to catch the Psychedelic Porn Crumpets.  After I stopped chuckling at their name, I noticed that they were actually churning out some pretty great psych rock tracks.  Their album, And Now For The Whatchamacallit, will be out on May 31.

Courtney Barnett – Everybody Here Hates You

To be honest, this sounds like what you’d expect a Courtney Barnett track to sound like, I’m largely just sharing it because the title makes me laugh.  Side note, the song is off of her Record Store Day 12″.

Black Belt Eagle Scout – Loss & Relax

Black Belt Eagle Scout just announced a new 7″ and shared a swirling track from it.  Can’t wait to see her at Barracuda on June 4.
