Hip Hop Hooray (Leah)
This week, the ruling came down that no officers in the Freddie Gray case will be indicted for murder, and we’ve lost at least two black men to blatant racism in the last month. The Austin Police Department has also demonstrated a reprehensible attitude towards its citizens. The continued treatment of black bodies as disposable enemies of the state by a racist police force is despicable and it needs to stop. I’ve made a mix and contributed to my local Black Lives Matter coalition. I will be writing to my police force and attending meetings in the coming months to be an ally to the movement, and I hope you will too.

Nice job painting with a broad brush, Leah, in calling an entire police force racist. I certainly hope you do not have to depend on them for protection if they are aware of your views. However, I know they would do their sworn duty to protect you in spite of your anger and venom towards them.
BTW, six Baltimore officers were indicted for murder and other charges in Freddie Gray’s death. There were no convictions. That distinction might not matter to someone painting with a broad brush, but the cases against 3 officers were taken to trial and 3 different juries declined to convict them.
