Quickdraw: Matt Berninger, Frankie Cosmos, Alien Boy, Anamanaguchi, Flooding
Enjoy.
Matt Berninger – Inland Ocean
The National’s Matt Berninger is putting out his second solo album really soon – Get Sunk is set to be released on May 30. This new track has a delightful texture to it.
Frankie Cosmos – Bitch Heart
I wasn’t too sure what to think of the most recent Frankie Cosmos single, Vanity, but this new one is too clever to not like. The band’s sixth album, Different Talking, is due out June 27.
Alien Boy – I Broke My World / Changes
I only just recently became familiar with Alien Boy, but I’m already a big fan based solely on this pair of very catchy 90s-leaning singles. I’m very excited to check out their new album, You Wanna Fade?, which is due tomorrow, May 9.
Anamanaguchi – Darcie
Anamanaguchi, who I’ve long associated with video game-like music, have apparently crafted a straight up rock album – it’s called Anyway and it’ll be out on August 8. The first single here is the best Weezer song I’ve heard in years.
Flooding – Your Silence Is My Favorite Song
Your Silence Is My Favorite Song is a fantastic title for a track, especially one that noisily simmers like this Flooding single does. The band will put out an EP titled Object 1 later this year. Also, for those in Austin, they’re playing Chess Club tomorrow, May 9.
