Quickdraw: Screaming Females, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, SOAK, Cola, Horsegirl, SPICE, Wallice, Wet Leg
Enjoy.
Screaming Females – On My Radio (The Selector Cover)
As usual, I’m always happy to eat up anything and everything that the good folks in Screaming Females put out. By the way, the band’s tour starts this week (unfortunately, there is no Austin date).
Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever – My Echo
The press release for this track describes it as a “guitar-driven earworm,” and I think that’s pretty dang accurate. Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever will release their new album, Endless Rooms, on May 6.
SOAK – Purgatory
SOAK has readied a new album titled If I Never Know You Like This Again, and it’s due out on May 20. Both of the singles released so far have been really great.
Cola – Water Table
With every new track that comes along, my appreciation for Cola grows. The band, which features former Ought members Tim Darcy and Ben Stidworthy and US Girls/The Weather Station drummer Evan Cartwright, will put out their debut album, Deep In View, on May 20. For those in Austin, they’re playing the Parish on July 2.
Horsegirl – World Of Pots And Pans
If you haven’t done so already, I definitely recommend headphones when listening to Horsegirl – the songs just hit different when they’re swirling around in your head. Their debut album, Versions of Modern Performance, will be out on June 3.
SPICE – Recovery
Here’s the second single off SPICE’s upcoming sophomore effort, Viv (due out May 20). I’m diggings its anthemic approach.
Wallice – 90s American Superstar
The line “Stop being so damn dramatic, you just got dropped from Atlantic” made me laugh out loud. 90s nostalgia fans, you will like this one from Wallice. Her new EP, 90s American Superstar, is due out May 6.
Wet Leg – Ur Mom
Not that you really need a reminder, but Wet Leg’s self titled debut album is out this Friday, April 8. Check out another fun one off it here.
