Quickdraw: Japanese Breakfast, Small Black, Bachelor, Damien Jurado, Fog Lake, Anna Fox Rochinski
Enjoy.
Japanese Breakfast – Be Sweet
Japanese Breakfast’s follow-up to 2017’s very good Soft Sounds From Another Planet is called Jubilee and it’s going to be released on June 4. This first single, which was co-written by Jack Tatum (Wild Nothing), is a total 80s bop.
Small Black – The Bridge
I’m very much in love with this shimmery new one from Small Black. The band will release an album titled Cheap Dreams on April 9.
Bachelor – Anything At All
Jay Som and Palehound have teamed up to form Bachelor! As of now, the duo has not announced a debut full length, but they have at least rolled out this slinky pop tune.
Damien Jurado – Helena
Maraqopa Records is the name of Damien Jurado’s newly launched label, and the first album to be released on it will – of course – be one of his own. Look for The Monster Who Hated Pennsylvania on May 14.
Fog Lake – Jitterbug
A lo-fi track that’s somewhat about solitude? Why yes, I will take one of those here in this never-ending lockdown. Fog Lake’s Tragedy Reel is due out on April 23.
Anna Fox Rochinski – No Better / Cherry
Quilt’s Anna Fox Rochinski has readied her solo debut – the album is called Cherry and it’s going to be available everywhere on March 26. Both of the singles released so far have had a pretty neat avant-garde pop sound.
