Quickdraw: Shame, Yung, The Hold Steady, Claud, Rhye, Ian Sweet
Enjoy.
Shame – Nigel Hitter / Snow Day / Water In The Well / Alphabet
The push for the new Shame album, Drunk Tank Pink, started so late in 2020 that I didn’t really pay much attention to it. The band’s LP though is 100% the first release in 2021 that I will be jumping on with max enthusiasm. It’s out this Friday.
Yung – Friends On Ice
There’s a shimmer to this new one from Yung that’s just spectacular. I’m eager to check out their sophomore album, Ongoing Dispute (due out January 22).
The Hold Steady – Heavy Covenant
This sounds like it was taken right off of The Hold Steady’s Boys And Girls In America (from way back in 2006), which is a very good thing. The band will release Open Door Policy on February 19.
Claud – Cuff Your Jeans
I just got an advance of Claud’s upcoming debut, Super Monster (due out February 12), and I’m really excited to dive into it. Here’s the latest pop gem off of the LP.
Rhye – Come In Closer
Rhye is just always able to make me want to move this big old weird body of mine. The act’s new album, Home, is set to be released on January 22.
Ian Sweet – Drink The Lake
Ian Sweet has officially announced a new album – it’s called Show Me How You Disappear and it’ll be out on March 5. The press release used the word mesmeric to describe this single, and I think that’s pretty fitting.
