Quickdraw: The National, Phoebe Bridgers, Stephen Malkmus, Sorry, Car Seat Headrest
Just getting a few nuggets out of my inbox here on a Friday. Enjoy.
The National – Never Tear Us Apart (INXS Cover)
There’s a charity compilation coming on March 12 that’s called Songs For Australia, and The National cut this INXS cover for it. Unsurprisingly, it’s great.
Phoebe Bridgers – Garden Song
Here’s Phoebe Bridgers first new solo track since her 2017 debut, Stranger In The Alps. Obviously, she’s already doing very well for herself, but this song is so good that it will certainly kick open even more doors for her.
Stephen Malkmus – Shadowbanned
This Stephen Malkmus track and its video are two of my favorite things right now – they’re both equally bonkers. Traditional Techniques is out today! Malkmus will play the Mohawk on July 6.
Sorry – Snakes
This song is so rad that it’s immediately propelled the UK’s Sorry near the top of my “must see at SXSW” list. The band’s debut album, 925, will be out on March 27.
Car Seat Headrest – Can’t Cool Me Down
It’s weird that Car Seat Headrest has been steadily releasing stuff, but his new LP, Making A Door Less Open (due out May 1), will actually be his first new set of songs since 2016’s Teens Of Denial. Anyhow, the lead single is a good one, and I’m looking forward to hearing more. Don’t miss the band at Stubb’s on July 22.
