Quickdraw: J Mascis, Alex Lahey, Julie Shaprio, The National, Bruno Bavota
J Mascis – Don’t Do Me Like That (Tom Petty Cover)
J Mascis is about to head out to Japan and Europe, so he’s put out this Tom Petty cover to celebrate the occasion. You should fully expect it to get lodged in your head forever.
Alex Lahey – Am I Doing It Right?
I very recently got sent an advanced copy of Alex Lahey’s new album, The Best Of Luck Club (due May 17), and I’ve already listened to it a lot. You’re going to like it. Check out a new single here, and if you’re in Austin, buy tickets for her show at Antone’s on August 16.
Julie Shapiro – Natural
Julie Shapiro, who can normally be found fronting Chastity Belt, has announced her debut solo album, Perfect Vision (due June 14). The refreshingly honest first single is really good.
The National – Light Years
I saw The National play this track a couple of times last year, and I was really into it. Definitely happy it landed on I Am Easy To Find, which is due out on May 17. Don’t miss the band out at the Austin360 Amphitheatre on September 10.
Bruno Bavota – Solo
Here’s a quick one from Bruno Bavota that he released a bit back to celebrate Piano Day. Make sure to strap on some headphones for it. Also, while this song isn’t on it, I recommend you pick up his recent album, Re_Cordis.
