Quickdraw: Soak, Yawners, Illuminati Hotties, Pile, Saudade
Doing some post-SXSW inbox cleaning this week. Enjoy.
Soak – Deja Vu
I really wanted to see Soak at SXSW, but the one opportunity I had was crushed by a forever long line. Oh well. At least I have this catchy new tune off of her upcoming album, Grim Town (due April 26). Plus, I imagine she’ll be back in Austin soon enough.
Yawners – La Escalera
Yawners have a new album, Just Calm Down, coming out on Friday, and this song has me really excited for it. Definitely one of the better 90s-enthused indie rock acts I’ve come across lately.
Illuminati Hotties – I Wanna Keep Yr Dog
Illuminati Hotties recently released this one-off single, which is super catchy and just about as endearing as can be. Side note, I need to jump back and check out their 2018 release, Kiss Yr Frenemies.
Pile – Bruxist Grin
Indie rock vets Pile are back with their seventh full length, Green And Gray (due May 3). I hope the rest of the LP is like this first single – a slugfest.
Saudade – Shadows & Light
Saudade put out their debut single back in 2016, and they’re just now rolling out a follow-up to it. For most bands, this wouldn’t work, but this one is an all-star group led by Chino Moreno (of Deftones) and regular rules don’t apply. Anyhow, the new track features Chelsea Wolfe and is pretty rad.
