Quickdraw: Fucked Up, Bad Moves, Metric, Phosphorescent, Spiritualized

Friends!  I’m off to Lollapalooza for the rest of the week, which means that things will be dark around here.  See you on the flip side.  Enjoy.

Fucked Up – Raise Your Voice Joyce

Fucked Up are now on Merge and on October 5 they’re going to release a double album called Dose Your Dreams.  The first single rips!

Bad Moves – Spirit FM

Here’s some power pop from Bad Moves, who are out of DC.  I wasn’t familiar with them previously, but this super catchy song made me want their new album, Tell No One (due September 21), now.

Metric – Dressed To Suppress

It makes me happy that Metric are back and sounding inspired.  I’m ready to jam their currently untitled album (though it does have a due date – September 21) in my car a lot over the back half of 2018.

Phosphoresecent – New Birth In New England

I know I’m old because all I want to do is get up early on a Saturday, pour myself a cup of coffee, and then listen to this on repeat.  Side note, it’s good to have Phosphorescent back.  C’est La Vie is due out October 5.

Spiritualized – Here It Comes (The Road) Let’s Go

Like the Phosphorescent tune up above, the latest slice from Spiritualized is immensely pleasant.  And Nothing Hurt is due out on September 7, and I’m expecting a lot from it.

I think the Bad Moves track is the pick. I am a sucker for power pop.

The fist track is as unlistenable as the band’s name is unmarketable. What were they thinking?

Enjoy Lolla. My 18 year old son drove up with two buddies. Good for them, but I would be lying if I said I were envious. I am too cranky for large crowds.
