The Hard Quartet is a new band from Stephen Malkmus (Pavement + more), Emmett Kelly (The Cairo Gang + more), Matt Sweeney (Chavez + more), and Jim White (Dirty Three + more), and here is their debut single. It sounds like you’d expect it to, which is to say that it’s good.

Illuminati Hotties – The L

Hey look, it’s another fantastic single from Illuminati Hotties. Her new album is almost here – Power is out August 23. Also, she’ll be in Austin later this year to play Levitation.

Superdestroyer – Green Hill

One of my main hobbies is retro gaming, so I love everything about the look of Superdestroyer’s impending album, Nelson Comes To Visit (due August 23). As far as the music goes, that’s also working for me.

Foxing – Greyhound

Here’s a massive, attention-grabbing number off of Foxing’s new album, which is a self-titled effort that will be out on September 13. For those in Austin, the band will be playing Empire Control Room & Garage on October 17.

Trace Mountains – In A Dream

There’s a new Trace Mountains album on the way – Into The Turning Blue is due out September 27. I’m really loving this driving single, which has a sort of shimmery War On Drugs feel to it.
