Quickdraw: Sufjan Stevens, Smokescreens, Girl Friday, Jonsi, Nana Adjoa, Carly Rae Jepsen

Enjoy.

Sufjan Stevens – Video Game

America ranks a little higher for me than this new one from Sufjan Stevens, but boy oh boy is he on a roll right now. I can’t wait to hear all of The Ascension (due September 25).

Smokescreens – Fork In The Road

If you’re into jangly indie pop, then you’re going to really dig this track from Smokescreens. The band will release A Strange Dream on October 30.

Girl Friday – Public Bodies / This Is Not The Indie Rock I Signed Up For

Girl Friday are putting out their new album, Androgynous Mary, this Friday. I missed the boat on both of the band’s singles when they were initially released, but they’re here now. Better late than never, yeah?

Jonsi – Cannibal

Here’s another stellar single off of Jonsi’s sophomore effort, Shiver (due out October 2). You should toss on some nice headphones before you hit play.

Nana Adjoa – I Want To Change

Nana Adjoa is definitely one of my favorite new discoveries here in 2020 – that voice of hers is just stellar. She’s going to release Big Dreaming Ants on September 24.

Carly Rae Jepsen – Me And The Boys In The Band

There’s been some talk about a possible “quarantine album” from CRJ, and I really hope it happens. For now, there’s this one-off, very bouncy track.

I AM into jangly indie pop so I do really dig the Smokescreens track. Best on this list by far.
