The National

Here I was thinking I was in for just another Tuesday, and then my super favorites The National come along and deliver a trifecta of great things – a new album, a short film and a tour.  Woo!  The LP is titled I Am Easy To Find, and it’s due out May 17.  Below you’ll find the pretty first single, which features longtime David Bowie collaborator Gail Ann Dorsey.  As for the short film, it’s a 24-minute piece that’s directed by Mike Mills (he did 20th Century Women and Beginners) and stars Alicia Vikander.  Apparently the album and the short-film aren’t quite one thing – even though they share the same title – and are what Mills describes as “playfully hostile siblings that love to steal from each other.”  Neat.

Last but not least, let’s all go see the band at the Austin360 Amphitheater on September 10.  Alvvays are opening!
