Quickdraw: Superchunk, Nanami Ozone, Cherry Glazerr, Girlpool, Conor Oberst
Enjoy.
Superchunk – Our Work Is Done
Superchunk have had a great 2018. Their 11th album, What A Time To Be Alive, is one of the year’s best, and the band has been killing it live all over the place. Below is a benefit track of theirs that features Damian Abraham of Fucked Up. Unsurprisingly, it rips.
Nnami Ozone – Alone Too
Here’s a catchy slice of indie rock from Nanami Ozone, who are out of Phoenix. Judging by it alone, I think the band’s new album, NO, should be on everyone’s 2019 radar.
Cherry Glazerr – Daddi
I’ve come to realize that I find Cherry Glazerr to be the epitome of hit or miss. It’s funny though how when they’re on – like with their new track – they’re really on for me. Stuffed & Ready is due out February 1.
Girlpool – Hire
I totally didn’t know that Girlpool’s Cleo Tucker was transitioning. This would explain why I thought their singles from earlier this year sounded so different! How silly of me. Anyhow, the lead tune off of their new album, What Chaos Is Imaginary (due February 1), is damn good.
Conor Oberst – No One Changes / The Rockaways
For some reason I’m always surprised that Conor Oberst is still good. I need to quit that. He’s certainly released a couple of albums that didn’t hit the mark for me, but overall he’s been great for a long time. You can pre-order a 7-inch with his two very sad new songs via Bandcamp.
