Movie Breakdown: About Time
People are doing traditional-style reviews all over the web, so we decided to try something different. In each “breakdown” we’ll take a look at what a film’s marketing lead us to believe, how the movie actually played, and then what we learned from it all. Read on!
The Impression:
Rachel McAdams has once again fallen for a guy who can travel through time. Fortunately, things do seem to be a bit more light-hearted this time around.
The Reality:
I found About Time to be a lovely film that’s loaded with charm and completely content with being a joyous and heartwarming experience. This, I imagine, will annoy some of you, especially if you’re looking for big dramatic moments and/or nerd-worthy time travel elements. In other words, About Time is happy with being happy, and you’ll either be fine with that or you’ll be bored out of your mind. Good luck out there.
The Lesson:
Romantic comedies aren’t dead. Maybe.
