Happy Cinco De Mayo!  I think all of you need to throw caution to the wind today and engage in some serious margarita consumption.  You know, because alcohol is totally the best way to celebrate culture.  Also, try and make sure that you participate in such honorable actions with the Heavenly States blaring in the background.  No, their sound is not in any way, shape or form related to Mexico, but it is some pretty clever pop music.  I thought their last album, Black Comet, was a good listen, but in all honesty I hadn't really thought about the Oakland-based band until this weekend when I saw that they had released a new full length earlier this year titled Delayer.  Oops.  I think we all need to seek it out as soon as possible.  Enjoy.

:The Heavenly States - Morning Exercise:  "It hurt so bad/This goes on the record."  I have no doubt that even at only five months into 2008 you're already feeling like you've had your fair share of pop music.  So, I have to say that it's rather nice to be able to share a little something like this that's full of energy and the type of songwriting that can only be described as refreshing.  Now throw a smile on that face and spend the afternoon singing-a-long to this gem.

Pretty Life is one of my favorite songs off of Black Comet, so it's nice to see that some real effort went into doing something cool for the video.  Too bad I'm only now seeing it.  What's up with me, this band and lateness?
