I can't wait to get my hands on Why's third full length, Alopecia.  In fact, there is not one disc that's set to come out in 2008 that I'm more excited about hearing.  After all, the band's last effort, Elephant Eyelash, is one of my all-time favorites, and even though it was released in 2005 I still listen to it on a regular basis.  It's just that amazingly good.  Of course, it is a bit impossible to know whether Alopecia will work the in the same magical way, but I am encouraged by the fact that Yoni, Josiah Wolf and Doug McDiarmid decided to go out and recruit Andrew Boder (Fog) and Mark Erickson to beef up their sound.  I'm sure their addition provided enough reason to push the group's sound into some new and different, which is good.  March 11 can't get here soon enough.  Enjoy.

:Why? - Close To Me (Cure Cover):  The original version of this is a bouncy good time.  This cover is not.  Yoni's vocal work is much more subdued and centered around working on an atmospheric level, which is also the same thing that can be said for the plodding arrangement.  I recommend grabbing some headphones and taking a moment to let this fill your ears completely.  You won't regret receiving the sonic love that will be given.

:Why? - The Hollows Just so you know, the song above isn't actually on the album.  However, I wanted you to be able to hear at least one that is.  It was already posted up once late last year, so if you want to read my ramble on it you can do so here.

Rubber Traits is a great song, but this spontaneous-enthused video somehow makes it a little better.  It may even be good enough to convince those of you who still don't own Elephant Eyelash to run out and pick it up.
