Alright, the wife and I are off to take on the greatest road trip ever.  I hope you all have a wonderfully safe and awesome two weeks without me.

As a parting gift, I give to you one more snazzy EP, which brings the total of artists shared this week to a whopping 25!  Enjoy.

BTW, part of our trip includes Bumbershoot, so there's a small chance I may write a tiny review of that.  Also, if you're out on the west coast and want to recommend cool places to stay or see then shoot me an email or leave a comment.  Thanks!

:ColourMusic - Put In A Little Gas:  Proving that I'm in need of a vacation is the fact that I had to listen to this song a few too many times before I figured out that it wasn't Colour Revolt.  Sad, right?  In any case, with this thunderous, but playful number the Oklahoma-based act has instantly earned a spot on my list of artists to see live as soon as possible.  Keep an eye out for their wily and oddly titled full length, F, Monday, Orange, February, Venus, Lunatic, 1 or 13, on September 9.

:The Donkeys - Excelsior Lady:  Noah and John Michael both hit on Dead Oceans and the Donkeys in their columns last weekend, but I had to mention them again so that I could point out my inability to pull myself away from the sprawling effort that is Living On The Other Side.  I imagine you're already on the label's crowded bandwagon, but if you aren't then this group will surely convince you to be.  The aforementioned LP will be on store shelves September 9.

:King Tuff - Sun Medallion:  I'll admit that when I received this act's album in the mail I took one look at its MS Paint-esque artwork and silly name and assumed that it wouldn't be any good.  Well, I was so very wrong.  This is actually one of the better psych-folk tracks that I've heard this year, and my list includes the great Sixto Rodriguez, who was actually from the 60s!  You should definitely seek out the King Tuff Was Dead LP.

:Jessica Lee Mayfield - Kiss Me Again:  Given that the Black Keys' Dan Auerbach produced this young lady's new record and that Scott Avett himself labeled the lovely vocalist as an "exciting new artist", I'm surprised to now just be hearing about her.  Better late than never though, I suppose.  Be warned, her sultry voice and stellar songwriting skills will probably win you over forever.  With Blasphemy, So Heartfelt is out September 16.

:The New Up - Broken Machine:  I didn't realize it until now, but with its edgy vocals and well-layered, distorted sound this is easily the most modern song in this EP.  You should totally crank it as loud as you can.  This is the title track from their recently released EP, but you can you expect to see me mention them again since they'll actually be putting out a few EPs over the next year or so.
