Yesterday I received the unfortunate news that Georgie James will not be playing here on Friday, which almost killed my week until I realized that their absence will allow me to see Bryan Scary instead.  I don't think it will be the same, but good music is good music, right?  Anyhow, on November 2, which is the day before Fun Fun Fun Fest starts, Robbers On High Street will be in town rocking a free show.  I was asked to cover it, but I won't be able to make it because of work related reasons.  So, since I proved myself to be useless in showing up to support a band that I like I figured I would just do so by rambling about one of the other standout tracks from their new album, Grand Animals, that's been floating around.  Enjoy.

:Robbers On High Street - Crown Victoria:  I really like that this isn't exactly like the Fatalist, which I posted in an EP some months ago.  That song kind of felt like a neat-o version of an unreleased Spoon song, whereas this is kind of like a mid-career Spoon effort.  Ok, so maybe these guys sound more than a little like the famed Austin band in just about everything that they do.  But, like I've been saying more and more these days, if you aren't going to be original then at least be really good at what you do.  I'd say this is a fine example of a band doing just that.

This video isn't of the highest quality, but it's pretty solid.  Plus, it shows off another new song, which is kind of the point anyways.  It's called Across Your Knee and it was recorded at the High Noon Saloon in Madison, Wisconsin.  Watch and love.
