Alright, I flat out just do not
understand Pitchfork's review of the new Explosions In The Sky album, All
Of A Sudden I Miss Everyone. The guy who reviewed it pretty much
gave it a 6.0 because the band sounded like themselves! What are they
supposed to sound like!? I am so confused and boggled by what it must
be like to sit down to review an album with the mindset of not wanting the
artist that made it to sound like themselves. Personally, I think the
new album is rather good. I don't think that it is their best effort
(let's say an 8.5 based on their previous work), but I think it will easily
end up being on of the best instrumental albums of 2007. I put up one
new song and one that I had previously posted before. Enjoy.
:Explosions In The Sky - So Long, Lonesome:
If you aren't really into instrumental music then I would recommend checking
this one out. The runtime is short (barely over three and half
minutes) and the buildup to the climax at is both quick and breathtaking.
Pitchfork harped on the band for "indie rock chorus" songs like this one,
but I think they just didn't get it. Good music is good music.
:Explosions In The Sky - Welcome, Ghosts:
If you want you can click
here to see what I thought about this song
way back in November. My thoughts on it haven't changed much and
in some ways I think I actually enjoy it more than I did then.
I mean how could anyone not love the thunderous drums that kick in at the
1:27 mark, or the peaceful calm in the middle that lasts for about a minute
before the frantic ride to the end begins.
BTW - I highly advise you to jump
