Sleater-Kinney – Can I Go On

Of all the tracks that have been released off of Sleater-Kinney’s new album, The Center Won’t Hold (due August 16), this one might be the best.  Be sure to see them at ACL Live on November 9.  By the way, did you read the primer I wrote for the band over at Vinyl Me, Please?

Mikal Cronin – Show Me

Mikal Cronin’s long-awaited fourth album, Seeker, is coming on October 25!  I’m really digging the Tom Petty vibes here in the first single.  Cronin will play Barracuda on November 27.

Haim – Summer Girl

Here’s Haim with what’s quite possibly the most pleasant song of the summer.  Also, what a great video from Paul Thomas Anderson.

Snarls – Walk In The Woods

Snarls are out of Columbus, and they recently jumped on my radar via this emo-tinged slice of indie rock.  The band will release their debut album, Burst, later this year.

Death Cab For Cutie – Kids In 99

Death Cab For Cutie are set to release The Blue EP on September 6.  I feel like their 2018 release, Thank You For Today, rejuvenated the band a bit, so I like that they’re keeping the momentum going.  Side note, I saw them play at the Metro in Chicago last week and they were great.

Angel Olsen – All Mirrors

While I’d like for Angel Olsen to make tracks like Shut Up Kiss Me forever, I appreciate that she’s expanded her sound way beyond that.  This swirling single (and its James Bond theme song feel) is off of All Mirrors, which is due out October 4.  Olsen will play Levitation in November.
