Quickdraw: Bartees Strange, Horsegirl, Frog Eyes, Charm School, Lucy Dacus

Enjoy.

Bartees Strange – Wants Needs

The new album from Bartees Strange is a Lawrence Rothman and Jack Antonoff-produced effort titled Horror, and it’s due out on February 14. I really liked one of the previous singles, Sober, due to its Twin Shadow/TV On The Radio-like sound, so I was happy to find that this one leans even more in that direction.

Horsegirl – Switch Over

These new Horsegirl songs continue to be infectious gems. Can’t wait to check out their album, Phonetics On And On, when it’s released on February 14.

Frog Eyes – I See The Same Things

Nothing like a sprawling and dramatic six-minute tune from Frog Eyes to get your day going. Their new album, The Open Up, will be out on March 7.

Charm School – Without A Doubt

“Please don’t let me run out of money”

As someone who just got laid off a few days ago, this lyric is screaming at me. Charm School will put out an album titled Debt Forever on January 24.

Lucy Dacus – Ankles

It’s wild to think that Lucy Dacus’ last album, Home Video, was all the way back in 2021. Where has the time gone? In any case, her new LP is titled Forever Is A Feeling and it’ll be out on March 28. She actually dropped two singles with the announcement – the other is titled Limerence – but this 90s-esque number is the only one that really landed for me. By the way, if you’re in Austin, she’s playing the Moody Amphitheater on May 10.
