Quickdraw: The Hives, Wallice, Chris Farren, CHAI, HAHA, Deeper, Sweeping Promises, Ratboys
Enjoy.
The Hives – Countdown To Shutdown
If you’ve been lagging behind lately, this ripper from The Hives should perk you up. The band’s new album, The Death Of Randy Fitzsimmons, is due out August 11 – I think it’s going to be a real good one.
Wallice – Disappear
Here’s Wallice with another clever and catchy tune off her impending EP, Mr. Big Shot (due out June 23). For those in Austin, let’s all make sure to see her at Antone’s on July 11.
Chris Farren – Bluish
Chris Farren announced a new album, Doom Singer (due out August 4), about a month or so ago, and now a second endearing single from it has arrived. By the way, if you’re Austin-based, he’s playing the Ballroom on September 19.
CHAI – Para Para
I’m totally in love with this slice of pure pop from CHAI. The effortlessly enjoyable number is off their self titled album that’s due out September 22.
HAHA – Only Gets Better
HAHA is made up of Maria Taylor (Azure Ray) and Mike Bloom (Jenny Lewis, Julian Casablancas, Richard Edwards), and their wonderful debut single can be heard right here.
Deeper – Build A Bridget
Deeper have announced a new album – Careful! will be released on September 8. A new tune from the art pop act is here, but you should also check out the one they put out earlier this year. On a tour related note, they’ll be in Austin on October 6 to play the Mohawk.
Sweeping Promises – You Shatter
Here’s Sweeping Promises with an angular, lo-fi winner. Their album, Good Living Is Coming For You, is due out June 30. Also, they’ve got a show coming up in Austin – it’s September 26 at Empire.
Ratboys – It’s Alive
The new album from Ratboys is titled The Window and it’s due out August 25. I love the track the band released earlier this year, and this one is just as good. Austin-based people, they’re playing Empire on November 3.
