Quickdraw: Sorry, Bjork, Brutus, Shalom, She/Her/Hers
Enjoy.
Sorry – Key To The City
We’re now right at a month away from the arrival of Sorry’s new album, Anywhere But Here (due out October 7). This track – which the band describes as a “tender fuck you” – may be my favorite single of the bunch so far. Side note, it’s a bummer that their current set of NA dates doesn’t include a stop in Austin.
Bjork – Atopos
Bjork’s new album is titled Fossora and it’s coming out on September 30. Naturally, this first single is aggressively whimsical. I’m into it.
Brutus – Victoria
Man, this melodic wall of sound from Brutus is a real head-turner. The band will release Unison Life on October 21.
Shalom – DTAP
Shalom, who recently signed to Saddle Creek, just put out this rather endearing (and catchy) little number. Her debut album is expected out next year.
She/Her/Hers – To-Do Lists (Color Coded)
The self titled debut album from She/Her/Hers is set to arrive on October 14. Definitely hit play here if you’re at all into punk/emo.
Interesting post, John. Several points:
I like the Wall of Sound by Brutus.
Cool that you linked Shalom who has fewer than 1000 views on YouTube for that track and an unregisterable number on Spotify. I like it and will move those numbers on Spotify.
I like punk/emo and enjoy the To Do Lists track. Not sure what I make of the rest of their/she/his/can’t tell oeuvre. Definitely not relating to the song titles. As a fan of some of One Direction’s songs and someone who enjoys Harry Styles, I am definitely not down with Kill the Boy Band by she/him/them.
Never understood the Sugarcubes in the late ’80s and that lack of comprehension followed to Bjork. 30 years later, I remain on the outside.
