Nilufer Yanya – Midnight Sun

If there’s an album that I’m looking forward to the most right now, it’s Nilufer Yanya’s Painless (due out March 4). She’s got such a versatile sound, and I just really love the way her songs move. For those in Austin, she’ll be at Antone’s on April 26.

Proper – Milk & Honey

Proper just announced a new album – it’s called The Great American Novel and it’ll be out on March 25. Honestly, I was expecting a big emo banger here, but it’s actually a fairly reserved track. It’s good though, especially when the horns jump in.

ME REX – Skin, It Itches

I’ve mentioned this before, but here it is again for good measure – if you’ve ever even slightly been into Los Campesinos, then you should be all over ME REX. The band will release their Pterodactyl EP on February 4.

Superchunk – This Night

This song was written in the mode of “let’s look around and be thankful for what we have rather than focusing on what Republicans have taken from an entire generation.”

Mac McCaughan is such a gem.

I’m ready to take in the ray of light that will be Superchunk’s new album, Wild Loneliness (due out February 25).

PUP – Robot Writes A Love Song

This new one from PUP is a little goofier than usual, but their enthusiasm sells it. The band will put out their next album, The Unraveling of PupTheBand, on April 1. Austin folks, go see them at Stubb’s on April 29.

Reptaliens – Take It / I Feel Fine / Like A Dog

Somewhere along the way I missed out these rather fine indie pop tunes from Reptaliens, so here they are now. I’m also including a notice that their new album, Multiverse, is out this Friday, January 21. Instant gratification!

Hatchie – Quicksand

Giving The World Away is the name of Hatchie’s newly announced album, and it’s coming out on April 22. This track here is a verified pop gem – I love it.

Girlpool – Lie Love Lullaby

What a dreamy, moody pop number this is. Girlpool are all set to put out a new album, Forgiveness, on April 29.
