Movie Breakdown: The World’s End
People are doing traditional-style reviews all over the web, so we decided to try something different. In each “breakdown” we’ll take a look at what a film’s marketing lead us to believe, how the movie actually played, and then what we learned from it all. Read on!
The Impression:
Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost are back together in order to wrap their Cornetto Trilogy.
The Reality:
The World’s End is one of the craziest, nerdiest films I’ve seen in quite some time. Where Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz are essentially clever parodies, The World’s End is so much its own thing that it makes me wonder if the plan all along was to make a couple of accessible comedies and then do some amazingly bizarre flick just for fun. Either way, I’m thrilled it exists, and I greatly appreciate that the mighty trio of Wright, Pegg, and Frost made sure to wrap the Cornetto Trilogy in the biggest, weirdest way possible. I can’t wait to see it again.
The Lesson:
There’s nothing better than not being disappointed.
