The days get longer in Austin as the sun burns higher and brighter over all the kids dreaming and lazing by Barton Springs, Deep Eddy, and every puddle that pops up next to or in a kiddie pool. People bitch about the sun and the heat, but the summer season is the reason we live in Austin. Where else but here would we be able to lounge, lift glasses, and lazy-river the day away without a care for the petty responsibilities that plague other city dwellers? Here in our idyllic city, we embody the virtues of the velvet rut - no matter what may happen at work on Monday, we exist for these summer days, these blissful booze-soaked lay outs, these friendly interactions with whoever brought the coldest microbrew, and the music creating a memorial marker for the festivities. Maybe this mix will remind you of the summer of '88, or of '91, or of 2008. Whatever it is, let this mix be the soundtrack to at least your first sweaty weekends with your closest companions.
