Today's Quick Mention: I know we're just coming
off a long (and awesome) holiday weekend, but this week is
going to have even more abbreviated content. You'll
get stuff today and tomorrow, but then it'll be nothing
until Sunday. You can make it without us.
Probably.
I found these songs in a time capsule. Enjoy.

Pistol Fire - Long Tall Sally (Little Richard Cover):
An entire album
composed of nothing but one band doing Little Richard covers
is not something I've ever wanted, but this track is so good
it's giving me faith that Black Pistol Fire might of
actually pulled off such a crazy stunt. I really need
to get on with checking out Shut Up!, which was just
put out via Rifle Bird Records.

- The World Is Ours:
Tired of the 90s flashback that's been going strong in 2012?
Then don't bother with this track, as it directly high-fives
recent trends every moment of its runtime. Personally,
I think it's a super catchy song that I'll probably end up
blasting all summer. The Warmest Place EP is
where you can find this number. It's out now on Ivy
League Records.
:Pujol
- Providence:
I've been meaning to pay more attention to Pujol, and I
think that's set to happen now that they're about to put out
their debut. Here's hoping we'll get some more tracks
like this one, which sounds like it was only meant to be
played at a loud volume. We'll all be able to get our
hands on United States Of Being when it gets released
on June 5 via Saddle Creek.

- Make It Known:
To be honest, I've yet to form a real opinion on this track.
I think it has some stuff that's particularly awesome, and
then there are a couple of moments where I feel the need to
shake my head in a disapproving fashion. Maybe it'll
work better in the context of the album? Jagjaguwar
will release Take The Kids Off Broadway on July 24.
:How
To Dress Well - Ocean Floor For Everything:
I always like to throw in at least one song that's
deserving of a nice pair of headphones, and this it.
Before you slap them over your ears, though, I'd make sure
no one is in the room. This is the sort of track that
might make you want to attempt crooning. Total Loss
is expected out at some point in the Fall.
