Today's Quick Mention: Later this
afternoon I'm going to plop down in a theater and
watch Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.
Will it be good? I honestly have no idea, as
the
trailers
really haven't given me much to go on at all so far.
Look for a breakdown tomorrow.
Not only is 2012 delivering a new Fiona Apple album,
but Cat Power (Chan Marshall) is also set to make a
return. Both lady dudes have been out of the
spotlight for years, and now here they are
re-entering it at pretty much the same time.
Coincidence? Probably. Anyhow, Matador
will put out the rather simply titled Sun on
September 4. Enjoy.

Power - Ruin:
I really liked The Greatest, but I have to admit I'm
pretty happy to see that Chan decided to not go back to that
particular sound. The energy that this track carries
is infectious, and I think the upbeat nature of it is a
great fit for her. It may even help bring in a new
crop of fans. Here's hoping there's a lot more of the
same on the upcoming full length.
