Today's Quick Mention: There's plenty to see
around Austin this weekend, but you should focus on trying
to catch
TV
Girl at
Lambert's tomorrow night. They've
been a favorite of mine for a long while, and I can't wait
to see them play. The
Gorgeous Hands are set to open.
Doors at 10pm. Tix are $8.
A stork delivered today's music. Enjoy.

Byrne And St Vincent - Who:
These two have
been at work on this collaboration for over two years, so
it's nice to finally hear something from it. My brain
says the first single indicates their time was well spent,
but I'm not sure it's capable of having any other reaction
to anything involving Annie Clark. Love This Giant
is due out on September 11 via 4AD/Todo Mundo. The two
will also be playing the Bass Concert Hall on October 5.

Choir - I Want You Now And Always:
Kurt Feldman (The Pains Of
Being Pure At Heart) is great when it comes to anything
retro, but somehow he's taken that skill one step further
with this track and the way that it's so very clearly the
best song that Erasure never wrote. Underwater Peoples
is all set to release Afar to the world when July 31
arrives.

And The Sunsets - I See The Void:
This song makes me want to hang out on a porch somewhere
with a cooler full of beer. Part of this desire comes
from it being a relaxed and easily accessible effort, but I
mostly blame the country-esque vocals. Polyvinyl will
release the pleasantly titled Longtime Companion on
June 26. Be sure to pick it up.

Lake - Wild Peace:
Here's the one song in today's mix that you should
grab headphones for. Their press person mentioned that
Beach House comes to mind when they listen to this act, and
I think that's actually a pretty fair comparison.
Expect to like this. Slumberland Records is all set to
release the band's debut full length, Wild Peace, on
June 26.

Trick - Invisible At Midnight:
This little side project from Tim Cohen of the Fresh and
Onlys is really starting to grow on me. I liked the
first track a lot (it's called Torture), and now this
slightly weird tune has come along and impressed. I
need to get out with checking out Ruler Of The Night,
which was actually just released this week via Hardly Art.
