Today's Quick Mention: This Monday is actually
delivering a couple of shows worth catching. You could
hit up Red 7 for Cave Singers, or you could stroll to
Stubb's for the Temper Trap and Crocodiles.
I came across today's music while researching Freemasons. Enjoy.

- Boyfriend:
Quay Quinn-Settel
is the name of this act's singer. There's no
particular reason you need to know that, I just like saying
it. As for the track, it's one of the more pleasant
pop efforts I've come across in 2012, and it has me eager to
check out more of Slowdance's stuff. The
Boyfriend/Airports 7" is currently awaiting your love
via White Iris Records.
:Lawrence
Arabia - Travelling Shoes:
This is not an artist I've ever
felt the need to spend much time with, but I think this
song's immaculate pop ways are going to force me in to
revisiting some of his older stuff. Anyone care to
recommend a specific track or three? You can
expect to be able to grab The Sparrow when Bella
Union puts it out on July 24.
:Three
Mile Pilot - Long Way Up:
Here's an act that's been around for 20+ years, which is
sort of crazy when you consider that I have a staff member
in Zoe who's only 19. In any case, I dig this song.
It makes me want to sit around and listen to 90s alt-rock.
Three Mile Pilot don't put out a lot of music, so a new EP
is kind of a big deal. Maps is due out on July
24 via Temporary Residence Ltd.
:Seapony
- What You Wanted:
I didn't end up fully impressed with the debut full
length that this band put out last year, but I thought it
had a nice handful of highlights. Here's hoping this
catchy tune is only the first of many things to rave about
in regards to their sophomore effort. Falling
isn't due to be released by Hardly Art until the faraway
date of September 11.
:Advance
Base - Summer Music:
I really liked the now defunct Casiotone For The Painfully
Alone, so I'm more than a little happy to see that Owen
Ashworth is still making music. Now working as Advance
Base, his new stuff is much more headphone worthy. I
think you're going to like it. A Shut-In's Prayer
is currently available through Orindal and Caldo Verde.
