Apparently the Zombie apocalypse is upon us, and it is being served up in a lavender scented tub of bath salts. I never thought drug addicts would be the downfall of the human race, but the evidence is as plain as the nose eaten off your face. It could have taken the form of a virulent strain of rabies, a corporate engineered virus or maybe a meteor that turns people into brain craving mutants, but instead a simple cosmetic product will kill us all, the irony.

The fascination with zombies, cannibalism and dismemberment plays out in metal music every day. In the 1980s Death metal began a trend of corporeal lyrical themes bent on the destruction of the human race, not to mention plenty of blood and guts. For three decades those themes took many different shapes interpretations of the apocalyptic havoc in store for the human race. So in this month’s installment of HMFT I pay tribute to some of my favorite flesh tearing, brain devouring, and face eating metal to go along with your next snort of a hygiene product.
