Today's Quick Mention: We're back! Now
that I've taken a quick jaunt to Vegas, the site can return
to it's normal programming schedule. I hope you didn't
miss us too much.
Today's music was won at a Blackjack table in the Monte
Carlo. Enjoy.
:Ellie
Goulding - High For This (The Weeknd Cover):
I've yet to
come around on the Weeknd, but Ellie Goulding has put out a
few songs in the past that have served as rather nice guilty
pleasures. This, even though it's not one of her own
creations, is for sure another one I'll be singing when I'm
alone. Is the original as good? Tell me now!
This is a random single, so grab it while you can.
:Dent
May - Home Groan:
While I like the
lackadaisical music that allows this track to glide along, I
think the lyrics are what keep me coming back. No
matter who you are, complaining about where you live and
dreaming about a better (or perfect) place is just a part of
life, and Dent May kind of nails that here. Do
Things is expected out June 12 via Paw Tracks.
:Ty
Segall Band - I Bought My Eyes:
I'm starting to feel like hardly a day goes by without some
mention of Ty Segall and one of his many projects.
It's crazy. Fortunately, it's always something of
quality, so I can't really whine too much about it.
This rollicking track is the latest single off of
Slaughterhouse, which is due out everywhere on June 26
via In The Red.
:The
Henry Clay People - Hide:
This is such a solid band. I can't say they've
ever done anything that's thoroughly impressed me, but I
know I'm always going to get something good from them.
Don't be afraid to turn this anthemic effort up loud enough
for your neighbors to hear. The nicely titled
Twenty-Five For The Rest Of Our Lives is due out June 26
via TBD Records.
:Teen
- Better:
Teeny Lieberson, who used to play in Here We Go Magic,
helped formed this all-girl group (it also includes her
sisters Katherine and Lizzie, and Jane Herships). I
missed their EP last year, but this moody pop song is
determined to make sure I check out the debut full length.
In Limbo will be out on August 28 via the one
and only Carpark Records.
