Today's Quick Mention: Tonight I'm
planning on catching a screening of Project X.
The film looks like it could be a lot of fun, but I
also think there's a good chance it's going to be so
over the top that I won't dig it. Check the
film section tomorrow to see how things turned out.
Mondays are usually the definition of shrug-worthy
for me, but the arrival of the new (and thoroughly
stellar) Yellow Ostrich album left me no choice but
to champion the start of this week. What a
sophomore effort. Check out the second single
below. You can expect to find Strange Land
all over the place on March 6 via the always great
Barsuk. Enjoy.

Ostrich - The Shakedown: There's a lot of growth and experimentation by the band
on their new full length, but I think some of my favorite
moments are when they, as is done in this song, keep things
simple and just focus on being loud. It works rather
well for them, and I can only imagine that it'll make their
live show even more accessible. Here's hoping I can
catch them a time or two at SXSW.
