Time for your weekly notable news update!  Below you'll find a slew of sentences meant to provide a brief glimpse of what's been going on over the past week in movieland.  If something leaves you desperate for more info then my advice is to do a little extra research on one or all of the following fantastic sites:  Latino Review, Dark Horizons, Ain't It Cool News, CHUD and/or JoBlo.  Now, read on!

Jennifer Connelly will star opposite Russell Crowe in Darren Aronofsky's Noah.

Mel Gibson and Michelle Williams are rumored to have parts in Robert Rodriguez's Machete Kills.

Sharlto Copely (District 9) is reportedly close to signing on to be the villain in Spike Lee's Oldboy remake.  Josh Brolin and Elizabeth Olsen have already been cast.

Brad Pitt and Javier Bardem are said to be wanted for supporting roles in The Counselor.  Ridley Scott is already set to the direct the Cormac McCarthy adaptation with Michael Fassbender as the lead.

Sin City: A Dame To Kill For is finally happening.  Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller are both set to return.

Antoine Fuqua may direct Olympus Has Fallen.  Gerard Butler has already agreed to star in the film that's being described as "Die Hard in the White House."

Ben Kingsley is reportedly in talks to play the villain in Iron Man 3.

Alfonso Cuaron, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, and David Cronenberg are rumored to be the preferred directors for Catching Fire, which is the sequel to The Hunger Games.

Tina Fey will star in The Intern.  The film is said to be about a woman who bonds with her 70-year old intern.

Ben Affleck and Justin Timberlake may star in Runner, Runner.  The film will reportedly revolve around illegal online gambling.
