The
Zoltars have been around for a while now, but I only
stumbled across them late last year after hearing
"The Perfect Girl" - a perfect slice of lo-fi pop
with hints of garage/psych rock. During SXSW, I was
able to get a hold of their debut LP, Should I
Try Once More?, and it's been on frequent
rotation on my turntable ever since. I'm enjoying
the simple, stripped down sound, but the songs are
also quite catchy and engaging.
The Zoltars
will put out the album on
Sundae Records on April 10. The band is also releasing video clips
for every song on the album. Lead singer and
guitarist, Jared Leibowich, made these videos by
re-editing some Super 8mm footage he shot when he
lived in Chicago. If you pre-order a copy of the
vinyl, Sundae Records will throw in the music video
DVD. You can order the album from Sundae Records or
digitally on
Bandcamp.
You can also buy a copy at their release party on
April 13 at 29th St Ballroom with guests
John Wesley
Coleman and
Fungi Girls.
