Today's Quick Mention: This is one of
those weekend where there's so many good shows that
you might as well commit to just being "out" the
entire time. Tonight: The Long Tangles and
Elaine Greer at Frank, Rocky Votolato and Matt Pond
PA at Stubb's, The Bandulus at Flamingo Cantina.
Tomorrow: The Sword at Stubb's, Cymbals Eat Guitars
and Hooray For Earth at Emo's, Zest Of Yore at Hole
In The Wall. Sunday: My Education at the
Mohawk, Ume at Emo's. Good luck seeing
everything.
Look at that! A full week of music. Enjoy.

Stars - Not Growing Up:
These guys currently have a full length out on Hardly Art
titled Violent Hearts, but this quick little effort
doesn't call the debut home, as it will be making a separate
appearance on a snazzy split 7" with His Clancyness at the
very end of October. It's a pretty good track,
especially if you dig your retro pop covered in warm fuzz.

Sound - Te Amo:
I liked the first single, Terra Incognita, but this
pretty number has put me over the top in regards to being
excited for Bradford Cox's next effort under the Atlas Sound
moniker. It's just pleasing to listen to, and I highly
recommend throwing on some nice headphones before you hit
play. The great 4AD will release Parallax on
November 8.

- Ain't It So:
I Am The Lion King was the initial track I
heard from this band, and it was a fairly upbeat tune that
couldn't have been more pop. This is slower, but it
features a bit of crooning, and I'm still getting the
impression that the impending effort is going to be one that
demands plenty of sing-a-longs. The A Good Woman Is
Hard To Find EP is due October 4.

Friends - Totally Low:
As you may recall, FF is the solo project of the Thermal's
Hutch Harris. I like this track, but I'm on the verge
of calling it a guilty pleasure since I've had a few moments
where I've wanted to just think of it as the Thermals
without any sort of edge. The Totally Low 7" is
currently available in exchange for cash over at Kill Rock
Stars.
:Amanda
Mair - Doubt:
Because I want you all to feel really old, I'm posting this
80s-enthused gem from someone who wasn't even born during
that decade. Yes, Amanda Mair is young. Very
young, actually. As in 16 years old young. How
is this even possible? It's crazy. Once she's
legal I'm totally giving her a high five. No word yet
on exactly when an official debut will be out, but it's
expected by early 2012.
