Today's Quick Mention: Lots of good
shows tonight! Les Savy Fav is set to rock the
Mohawk for the venue's anniversary party, Colour
Revolt and Colourmusic are playing Emo's, and Quiet
Company is doing an acoustic set at ND. Get
out and see something.
For years and years I've been championing the
instrumental ways of Russian Circles, and this fall
it would seem as though they're totally high-fiving
me for all the love by releasing a new full length
and by having one of their only shows in 2011 be an
appearance at FunFunFun Fest. Thanks, fellas!
Empros is due out October 25 on Sargent
House. Enjoy.

Circles - Mladek:
Admittedly, this sounds like pretty much every other Russian
Circles track - there are huge riffs and it constantly
broods and swells. Fortunately, that's far from being
a bad thing since they're a band that doesn't exactly need
to reinvent the wheel. They just need them to keep
chugging along and making music that, like this song, plays
great with the volume too loud.
