Today's Quick Mention:  I assume you crazy kids won't be rushing out to see Santana tonight, so instead you should consider catching Deleted Scenes, Royal Forest, and Haunted Amps at the Mohawk.  Shows starts at 10pm.  Tix are a super cheap $6.

Music for your Monday.  Enjoy.

:Pujol - Mayday:  Despite the fact that he's on the verge of releasing what's supposedly his 10th effort in two years, I'm not overly familiar with the act known as Pujol.  How the hell did that happen, right?  At any rate, this sloppy, relentless cut is off the Nasty, Brutish, And Short EP, which is expected to see the light of day on October 18 via Saddle Creek.

:Forest Fire - Mtns Are Mtns:
This arrived in my inbox late on Friday, and even though I was filled with a touch of doom because of their currently relevant-to-Central-Texas name, I really dug their Walkmen-esque sound.  One day I'd love to catch this live, as I'm sure it makes for a passionate performance.  FatCat will physically release Staring At The X on October 18.

:Pree - Lemon Tree:  Once upon a time Pree delivered one of my favorite tracks of the year.  And now?  Well, I don't have a clue as to whether or not this will have a place on my year-end song list, but it is a really good effort worthy of your attention.  Pree recently signed to Paper Garden Records, and on October 18 they'll release Folly.  Someone do me a favor and have the band make a stop in Austin soon.

:Fionn Regan - 100 Acres of Sycamore:  At one point I really liked this guy, and then I just sort of lost track of what he was up to.  Shame on me.  Maybe I'll do some backtracking after I give his recently released LP a good listen or two.  This rather great track (grab headphones, by the way) is from 100 Acres Of Sycamore, which is available via Heavenly Recordings/Cooperative Music.

:Fujiya And Miyagi - Chichikov:  Somewhere along the way this duo apparently decided to put together a track for people to jam out to while running.  I don't know where this excerpt factors in during the 37 minute effort, but it works as standalone, and I think it sounds pretty cool.  Different Blades From The Same Pair Of Scissors is out now via Strange Tongues.
