Today's Quick Mention:  I say catch a movie tonight (Contagion and Warrior were released today), and then focus on music the rest of the weekend. Tomorrow you'll find Dark Water Hymnal at Frank, O'Death at the Mohawk, and the Carrots at Antone's. Or you could just get your entire live music fix with the Wild Frontier Fest, which is going down Saturday and Sunday at Emo's.

And then there was music. Enjoy.

:Los Campesinos! - By Your Hand:  Sappy songwriting is something I usually consider a guilty pleasure, but somehow this act masks it in a way that still makes me want to champion them until the end of time. Maybe it's just the high level of energy/passion they always seem to be packing?  This cut is from Hello Sadness, which is due out on November 14 via Arts And Crafts.

:Colleen Green - Rabid Love:
A week or two back I was sent Colleen's new effort, and I immediately developed an attachment to it.  The tracks that make it up are full of the fuzz and retro appeal that we've all heard so much of the last few years, but there's some good songwriting and it's a listen that oozes charm.  Cujo is due out on October 4 via Art Fag.

:Oregon Bike Trails - High School Lover:  This isn't as infectious as Swimsuit, the last song I shared from this band, but it's still a really good tune that will surely get lodged in your head for an overly long period of time.  The High School Lover 7" is due out next Tuesday (9/13) via Father/Daughter Records.  These guys need to put out a full length already.

:Class Actress - Weekend:  I'm really starting to look forward to the release of CA's new full length.  Keep You was a rather nice track, and now I seem to be unable to take this second single off repeat (and not just because it's the most Friday-relevant song to ever be posted).  Rapprocher is expected everywhere via Carpark on the overly far away date of October 18,

:Mark McGuire - Get Lost:  There isn't a whole lot going on in this track, but it's got atmosphere to spare and, just as the title indicates, it's very easy to get lost in.  Grab headphones and as many five minute blocks of time as you can for this one.  McGuire will release Get Lost on September 27 via Editions Mego.  He also has another effort out now titled A Young Person's Guide To Mark McGuire.
