Today's Quick Mention: I'm back with
the Austin Film Festival tonight, but that doesn't
mean you can't catch a show. Deer Tick
is at Emo's East, Mastodon is playing La Zona Rosa,
the Sour Notes are at the Mohawk, and Leatherbag
will be at Hole In The Wall. See something!
Mazzy Star is one of those acts that I've never
really done my due diligence on. I know a few
tracks, but I can't make any actual comments on
albums, shows, or anything like that. Still,
I'm interested in their comeback. Check out
their first step towards re-entering the spotlight
below. The Common Burn 7" is due out
October 31 via Rhymes Of An Hour. Enjoy.

Star - Common Burn: I really like this track. It's got a weird pace
and a lot of atmosphere, so I just sort of get lost in it
every time I hit play. Just a heads up, though, this
song is not necessarily something I'd consider easily
accessible, so I recommend more than one listen, a window to
stare out of, and a nice pair of headphones to slap over
your ears.
