Hailing from the musical mecca that is Brooklyn, the High Highs are native Australians that are just as characteristic of being lowly as they are lofty. The three-piece outfit craft delicate, dreamy pieces, and even with warm acoustics, you can’t help but feel chilled. With bare instrumentation in simple, steady tune, the trio’s songs are altogether atmospheric in such a stark manner, but that’s not to say their music is empty and void. In fact, their songs are absolutely lush and gorgeous - wispy harmonies, warm acoustics. Rather, when it comes to their music, what you’re faced with surrounds you in the immediate, and everything beyond what you can simply reach for is where the bare stillness lies. In all of my abstract thinking, what I can simply tell you is that what we’re dealt are beautiful compositions - dreamy, fragile, enchanting. As summer turns into a fleeting memory, these coming cooler days are perfectly soundtracked to the High Highs, and it almost seems divine providence that their first EP is set for release this coming November.
