Today's Quick Mention:  As you may have noticed, the streaming player disappeared about a week ago.  I'd love to tell you why, but I don't have a clue as to why it happened.  On the bright side, it's been replaced with something much better.  Now you can hit play and it'll cycle through all the tracks that are on that particular page.  Try not to freak out.

Yep, it's Monday again.  Enjoy.

:Doomtree - The Grand Experiment:  In case you don't know, Doomtree consists of POS, Dessa, Sims, Cecil Otter, Mike Mictlan, Lazerbeak, and Paper Tiger.  I tend to not really dig most hip hop collectives, but this one features a slew of talented people that have great chemistry together.  This well crafted number is from No Kings, which is due out November 22.

:Mezzanine Owls - Obstacle:
For too long now I've been meaning to post up this track from MO, but I just haven't gotten it done until now.  Damn me!  Anyhow, it's a rather atmospheric piece of pop, so you'd be doing yourself a favor by throwing on a pair of headphones before hitting play.  The band put out a 7" last week titled Obstacle.  Only 250 copies were printed, so grab one via Jax Art while you can.

:The Ghost Wolves - Gonna Live:  If you've been missing the White Stripes (or just need more blues-enthused garage rock in your life) then this should help.  Crafted by a pair of locals, this raucous tune is an absolute blast.  Hopefully the stars will align so that I can see the duo when they play Beerland on November 19.  The In Ya Neck EP is due out November 14.

:Lightyear - It Beats:  A lighter, more indie pop-focused version of Metric is probably not something you think would be all that interesting, but I think you might change your mind when you hear this track.  Or you'll be even more convinced about such a thing not being what you need/want.  Guess we'll see.  The band will release the All Of The Miles EP on November 1.

:First Aid Kit - The Lion's Roar:  "I'm a goddamn coward, but then again so are you"  I really love that line, and that's why this song is here today.  Well ... there's that and also the part where it's just a great listen.  First Aid Kit is made up of two sisters from Sweden, Klara and Johanna, and the duo will put out The Lion's Roar on January 24 via Wichita Recordings.
