Today's Quick Mention:  I highly encourage that you come out to the Austin Convention Center tomorrow night to see my wife and her Rhinestone Cowgirls play the Cherry Bombs for the 2011 Calvello Cup.  Otherwise, hit up Showlist Austin for details on the variety of shows this weekend that feature Wye Oak, Maria Taylor, Gringo Star, Electric Six, and Follow That Bird.

Music for your Friday.  Enjoy.

:Los Campesinos! - Hello Sadness:  With a title like Hello Sadness you are probably assuming that this track swims around on the sappier side of things.  It does.  I can confirm it.  Fortunately, it's also rather accessible, so it won't take you too long to find yourself attached to it.  The band will release Hello Sadness on November 15 via Arts And Crafts.  It'll be out on Wichita if you live in the UK.

:Tennis - Tell Her No (The Zombies Cover):
I never sit around thinking about how much I love Tennis.  Actually, I have to admit they rarely ever just pop into my brain.  And yet I really like any piece of music (for example, this snazzy cover) that I get from them.  Can anyone explain that?  I certainly can't.  This track is a random one-off effort, so grab it while you can.

:Other Lives - Song Song:  These guys are starting to really win me over.  The full length they put out earlier this year, Tamer Animals, is a good listen, and now they've churned out this dreamy, semi-whimsical gem.  It's selfish, but I want more.  Song Song is part of a web series that's sponsored by Windows.  Still, I'd download this and store it away while it's readily available.

:Lykke Li - Unchained Melody (Righteous Brothers Cover):  I think it's easy to only think of Lykke Li as this Swedish force that creates pop anthems as though it was the easiest thing ever.  The girl can sing, though, and she knows her stuff, which I think is evident with this slow burning cover.  I really hope she kills it when she plays Fun Fun Fun Fest here in November.

:Cookies - Wilderness Tips:  This is a big, goofy track that I probably would have ignored had it been a Monday, but it's Friday and I'm liking the energy it's pumping out.  On a related note, how is that no one else in history thought to name their band Cookies?  This trio (one of which used to be in Mobius Band) has a variety of stuff available on their website.  You should check it out.
